Question about blog comments received

If someone visits my blog and leaves an intelligent comment that is relevant to the post, but their url is totally not related, should these be approved? For example, my blog is about ebook readers. Someone came and jumped into the conversation with a decent comment but their url goes to a page that sells used cars. If I approve this, will it hurt me in the eyes of the search engines?

I can't see that it would. All the sites ask for your web site but it never says anything like "related sites only". Know what I mean? I have no official answer but thats how I see it.

I don't think it would. I approve comments on my site where the URL is not related.

To tell you the truth I would be more hesitant about approving a comment that was because they are my competition.

If the person has left a good, relevant comment then I don't see the problem

It seems that most of the comments on any blog come from competitors-that is a problem I know, but being a new blog and needing visitors I guess it's fair play. Gotta beat em in other ways-good keywords, etc.

It's good to leave intelligent comments on your blog even if the link is not relevant to your blog, but of course the comment is relevant ;)

I have published a post once talking about comments and how we can use comments for content creation I would like to recommend for you to read!

I have seen you asking too many questions here in the forum and this is pretty cool, I was trying to answer most of them for you as much as I can, so I hope this will help!

No, the only important thing to consider when trying to build up readership is getting intelligent, interesting feedback. This will help stir up interest and more feedback from other posters.

    I gotta agree with that.

If someone wants to contribute to my site and share the experience then please do. A simple backlink is not too much to grant IMO.

If you start to restrict commenting to those in the same niche, soon there wont be any comment.

As long as it is a relevant comment and not chocked full of spam then I do not see a problem.

I get comments with a few intelligent words, and the rest of it spam. Some people enclose their urls in BB code, and that doesn't work on Blogger!

If it's a decent comment and relevant to the blog post then keep it.

I can't see any bad point of approving great comments. I can only see the good points.
Approving relevant comments are what make your site sociable and attract more people to visit and read your posts carefully and think and share their thought. Comments and response are what define a active blog from a static website. And the truth is good comments are making your site more informative.
The link to other sites act like the motivation factor.

    One more question..
If we want to comment on blogs so it should be related to our theme only? or not?
