I have a site that is about to be released, and I am expecting a high volume of use. This type of site is not being done, so I have to expect for the unexpected with bandwidth. Currently I have 7500mb of bandwidth, where will this get me as far as visitors, and how does bandwidth work? how do I know if I have enough?

    Hello lapowerlifter242,

In most control panels it will tell you how much of the bandwidth you are using out of the total amount.

When it gets near the top usage of bandwidth, buy more bandwidth from your host or you can upgrade plans.

    Good luck!

You may run into trouble if you have music or video on your site.

Say your home page has a 5meg video on it if you get more than 1500 visitors that watch the video, you would have blown through your allocated bandwidth.

yeah 7.5 is a very small amount to start of. i would start close to 500gig for a small video site (very small) with the option for cheap bandwidth upgrades from your host.

7.5gb of data is basically what you can deliver. I might be able to help! PM me or add me on msn.

7.5gb is not that much. I'm not 100% sure how it's calculated, but it maybe calculated to how larger your pages are. For example, for each page, add up the size of them like the html size, images, etc. and then see how many times each page will go into your total bandwidth to see how many pageviews that bandwidth is likely to give you. Don't forget that this will not be 100% accurate though as search engine robots use a lot of bandwidth and then a user may visit a few pages of your site where some of your sites images will only need to load once on their computer because it's been catched, etc.
