Hi, Can anyone please clarify me that "For example I have 950 posts on this forum, does that mean that I have 950 backlinks to my site in my signature?" Or I can have 950 backlinks IF I got links from 950 different websites? Please clarify me this thing. Thanks
Google value only a couple of links from the same url. You may 950 forum links, but since they are all from "forum.digitalpoint.com", Google probably only count 1-3 forum links.
Google sometimes counts a lot more than 1-2 actually, because i have some sitewide links on some blogs, and a majority of the blog's pages are showing up in google as backlinks to my page.
I'm pretty sure it would count all of them as backlinks, so long as the page your URL is on is indexed in Google. It obviously wouldn't benefit you anywhere near as much as having 950 backlinks from different sites, thats for sure
In Google Webmaster Tools, I see well over 500 links from forums.digitalpoint.com. They are counted, but how much SEO weight forum signatures have is open for debate... You are best to seek quality links from related sites. Don't focus on trying to get boatloads of links from one site.
Log into your DP UserCP. In the top-right corner, you'll see something similar to: Welcome, UserName. You last visited: Today at 9:51 pm Private Messages: Unread 0, Total 1234. Technically, the Total number is how many links you realistically could have, because thats how many unique thread posts you have made.
Same here. I show hundreds of DP links in Google Webmaster Tools. But what we don't know is how the Google algorithm counts them — perhaps all of them? Or perhaps just a handful for PR purposes? My hunch is that they only count a few for algorithm purposes, but who outside of Google really knows?
One more question just came to my mind. For one of my sites, I have only 5 backlinks to it from Google and when I check the sites who are giving me backlinks, all sites are PR4 So, does it mean that Google counts PR4 or PR4+ links as real backlinks?
If you are looking at backlinks for your site, try Yahoo as well. Google under-reports backlinks, even in webmaster tools. http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com For example, the directory in my signature shows about 3,000 more backlinks in Yahoo then in Google's webmaster tools.
I think all post here does not count as backlinks. I also try to check my site and I found that my backlinks from forum are less than the total posts.
I have a very peculiar question regarding the same topiv . lets say i have made around 250 posts and all of them contain my website in their signature (posts) and yes one more thing the pages where the posts have been placed has a PR of 0 or none as you can see. so don't you think it can lower down the seo value for that site and decrase it saerch engine positon as a PR0 or a gray PR link to the website can reduce the postion or the PR of the website.(that's only when having so many backlinks from such pages such as in this) please telll
I need some quality backlinks. Oh well. I am new to the world of SEO and backlinks. I hope that DP can boost me a up a bit!
In the long run, you're better off looking at your sig links as a referral source. However, high PR forums (frequently crawled by search engines) such as this do allow you to quickly index new sites/pages. You can get some link love too, just not much.
I think the links count... but for almost nothing because the pages the links appear on rank so low and have so many other links on them. Mathematically, how valuable is one of the 100 links on a PR0 page? Not very... Also, objectively, I played the "compulsive forum posting and signature links" game last summer and posted hundreds and hundreds of messages to a handful of small business forms, QuickBooks forums, etc., I saw no measureable effect in the months that followed. Finally, logically, if you were writing the algorithm, how relevant would it really be to search results if a site adds a 376th link to my site using the identical anchor text as the first 375 links? Thoughts from a newbie...
