I have a basic question about backlinks that needs to be answered. As far as I know, the major factor in determining page rank on Google is the amount of backlinks that you have to your site. Having a lot of outlinks can subtract from your pagerank (that's what I read). So basically what I'm trying to ask is does it matter if people actually click on these backlinks, or does it only matter that they are physically there? Does the google crawler register these backlinks and then add them into your pagerank if they are simply on the page, or do they only register when somebody actually clicks on them? They register them if they are there. There are 2 types of backlinks, follow and nofollow. You need a nice mixture of both but Google only registers follow links for the most part although some people believe that nofollow links can be very relevant. A few important factors come into play with backlinks. First is the authority of a site. You can check the PR of a site to get an idea of the authority. Usually high authority sites have high PRs. Second, is the popularity of the page your link is on. Again PR is a quick way to check this but you should check how new the page is and if other sites are making new links to it. Third, is the amount of backlinks on the page your link is on. The more links on a page means the page spreads it weight to all of the links. If you are the only "follow" link on a popular page on a high authority site then you are golden
Please also keep in mind that the authority past to your site is through the 'Page' Rank. Notice its the authority of the linking Page and not the Site. So check the PR of the actual page linking to your site
I have a question to. What is the best number of outbound link to have on front page. And does it help to link exchange PR0 sites with PR0. Does it help in SEO
Link exchanges with any relevant site helps. The higher the PR the better but relevancy is very important. You don't want to over load your main page with outbound links but there is no magic number. Just make a good main page without over thinking SEO.
For school games? You are fine. There is nothing wrong with a few links to friends. There are large blog networks that link to 30+ blogs in their footer and those sites carry huge authority. Just look around the Internet at sites you see all of the time and see how Google handles them. You can buy links, you can trade links, you can do many marketing strategies but don't spam. Google does not want to see your site showing up on several sites with a perfect anchor text next to links for refinancing, viagra, casinos, and dating. That is a little obvious you are buying links to manipulate rankings instead of buying links to naturally expand your business.
i had link exchange with all of them. And some are good PR 1-2. But I hope it will help me get better rankings in google. What do u meen by the one with the most backlinks. Should i put only sites with many backlink or what?
when i was summiting directories i was changing the anchor text. But in a forum i dont change it. Is it good to use other anchor text from time to tine ?
Only availability of your link is sufficient for google crawler. try to add your back links in upper part of a link page. That is far better. I have once read that ignores back links after 50 on a page when its crawler works.
I have found that adding a few very high quality outbound links to authority sites like Wikipedia etc. help a lot with ranking, rather than penalizing the site. The Google Webmaster guidelines actually say as much, not that you can necessarily trust Google
