Hi there, I have a question about the different companies that can gather together all the information about the number of backlinks to your site. I started setting up some backlinks to the company site about a month and a half ago. Alot of the directories are unranked but I do know of some that are ranked. My problems is: Alexa is still listing us as having only 86 links into the website and this has not changed since I started workingon this. I found another website HubSpot that does a similar job as Alexa and this lists our site as having over 300 links into the site. Needless to say this has me a bit confused. Which is right and how do both companies give different figures? Any help clearing this up would be appreciated. Thanks, Angela.
You get very different results with different sites. Alexa and Google are those who shows less backlinks. Try using yahoo. (search "domain:yourdomainhere") you should see alot more links.
Alexa and google usually have more valid count for this link status, because they're not counting th similar links that goes to your site. But anyway, the important thing you should consider about link is whether it increase your pagerank or not.
