I would just like to know is the alex ranking for a site only just how much traffic it is getting. Or is it the higher your ranking on alex the more search engine traffic you can get or is it a bit off both. In other words how do you get search engines to send you traffic without buying or advertising to get traffic, basically how you get all the google traffic coming to your site hope that made sense. Im looking to get search engine traffic but dont know how to go about it. Can someone please help
Alexa is just a service that ranks websites based on how many times the users who have an alexa toolbar visit a site. In order to get traffic from Google and other search engines you must have your site optimized for search engines. (In short: SEO) This means you must place the correct keywords in your site title, have unique content, have many backlinks, etc. and essentially have a better site than your competitors.
Not any more its not. They now combine that with data from other sources and have been doing so for at least a couple of months now.
huh? Alexa accuratly measures what it sets out to measure (ie visits from those with the Alexa toolbar combined with other data) - how is that not accurate? I assume you mean to say its not a accurate measure of a sites total traffic, which its not. Its not even a good "estimate" of a sites total traffic.
Normally only Computer savvy people, Internet Marketers and SEOs install Alexa browser on their machines. It is natural therefore that sites related to SEO, Internet Marketing, and software usually rank high in Alexa even though they may not get traffic as high as sites in other niches.
Alexa ranking cant show always about the real amount of traffic because it rely on alexa toolbars at visitors browser.
