Oh, its strange because a lot of the ads that show up first play much less compared to the ones that show up second, third, etc, probably just me. one more question, does anyone find the bid tool accurate?
Oh yeah and, what if the advertiser has a huge budget, but he doesn't pay much per click? Will his ads always stay on top?
Generally speaking, they do, but they have also been experimenting with ad rotation on some sites so each ad cycles through spot #1 through #4. Ad budget has nothing to do with placement unless it is a huge advertiser who has bought RON ads. Unlike google, highest bidder gets priority.
I have one more question, if you use the bid tool to check a keyword, is that really how much an advertiser is paying?
There's this ad that keeps staying in first position, and when I check the bid for this ad it is way lower than any of the other ads that show up. Who can explain this? thanks.
How do you know what keyword is triggering the ad? You can have the same exact ad with huge differences in pay - i.e. "reconstructive surgery" might pay $3 which "reconstructive surgery houston" might pay $30 but the same ad is going to show. You have no way of knowing what cost yahoo is giving that ad based on your site. If the ad bothers you, just block it from showing.
It's not true. The highest paying do not always show at the top. I've priced the ads showing on my site. Lendingtree is one of the highest paying at over $6 per click. When that one shows up it is at the very bottom of the ad block. I've had ads for .47 show higher. There is no logic to what Yahoo is doing right now.
why don't they show the highest paying first? they would get more money as well...sounds like they need some optimization
