Question about ads on website forums

I have been working on trying to develop the best way to get money from my forum http://www.xboxliveclans.com It can be rather hard, this site gets a ton of hits compared to my other regular sites. But, my other sites make a lot more money, which just makes me a little mad. Do you guys have any suggestions?

How about those hover keyword ads, when you hover over them ads pop up. Can you make any good money with those.

And I actually found out that if you make your google ads blend in a little bit, like say the border and background, but make the text link stick out with an opposite color you get better amount of clicks. Has anyone experimented with that? I mean if you blend in the ads too much people are just going to ignore them on a forum.

This is an ongoing struggle with me, I'm sure no one's going to share too many tips or secrets, but if you have any, pm me or post here. I would really appreciate it!

I recommend trying AdBrite inline ads alongside AdSense. By integrating ads in your content like this you display more ads per page and get more clicks.
I do exactly the same and it increases my earnings by an extra 30% per month - not an insignificant amount.
If you're interested I recommend you read my AdBrite review for more information.

I love adbrite for those kinda sites. Also I would change the font of your adsense to match your sites links the greenish color your using. I think it would blend in better. On my sites i tried the opposite bright color and I found people actually complained and said it was ugly. So i blended it better and the clicks did go up.

I also use adbrite in the first 2 posts of each topic.

Try something else, like azzogle, or widgetbucks or some other program. There are tons to choose from
    Good Luck

Try kontera ads. But it will be always better if you reduce the number of ads shown to registered users.

I have been using adbrite as well and sometimes it works but lately they have put in a ton of risky adult type of banner ads when all I want is text. The contrasting colors definitely help, but when a banner ad shows up that kills the whole idea.
