I read the FAQ and rules and came to know that after 10 infractions there is a temporary ban. I want to know is there time period for total infractions to be counted. It means that is there some time period like say three month to count 10 infractions. Or they are counted continuously irrespective of the time duration between them. I did not found any explanation regarding this on rules section.
Each infraction is active for a specific amount of time and has a point value between 1 and ten. When member receives his tenth active infraction point member is banned until one of the ten expire.
Can you tell the exact duration of this specific amount of time. If I could translate your response correctly a member gets ban only when he has ten active infractions.
I edited my above post to correct it. A member is banned when is total number of active infraction points reaches ten. There is no way to predict length of ban. In theory a member could have nine infraction points, receive his tenth infraction point and an hour later have one of the infractions expire and thus would be unbanned that next hour. Any time a member is banned the duration of the ban at the time member is banned is given in an email to the member.
I was not asking about the duration of ban though this information is also new for me. I was asking for the duration of active infarction. i mean it must have been programmed. If you can not give an exact duration- Is it in days or months ?
The duration varies as per the offense done. Lets say you had 9 active infractions (the earliest expiring on 31st January) You received another infraction on 15th of January, since you now have 10 points you will be banned. Your ban will be lifted on the 31st Jan (Since that infraction will expire, you now have 9 in your basket) Assume you got an infraction worth 2 or more points on 15th January (Which makes your total 9 + 2 = 11 or 9 + x, where x is the number of points awarded) Your ban won't be lifted until your infractions expire and the total comes to 9. I hope that is helpful
Thanks for the information. I received my first infractions today and went through the details. Id like to ask why don't this happen, that if a user id old and good background his infractions can be for less duration and for less points. Well anybody can do mistake. user having 4 years of background and 1000 post if supposedly makes a mistake and get 10 infraction points, what is the advantage he is getting by being senior ??
Careful, warnings and infractions are different... A warning is yellow and is typically handed out for the small stuff (wrong category, etc). Think of a warning as a cop letting you off with a "warning". An infraction is red and is handed out for repeat offenders or serious rule breakings (trolling, bumping, etc). Think of an infraction as a cop handing you a speeding ticket or something. Get too many and you're off to jail (in this case banned). Just follow the rules, and you should be a-ok.
If the user is old he is expected to make less mistakes. Surprisingly I still see most of the old members making posts like "pm sent", "have a look at my signature".
It'd be a 'not so cool' move. Being senior doesn't mean you don't make mistakes. I've seen guys with 5,000+ posts and full reps making posts like "Interested PM Sent" "PM Me" "I am interested, send more details" Assuming the seniors are provided a shield against the infractions, the new members would sing their own song saying "I am a senior member of blah blah forum with blah blah posts and blah blah reps so spare me the infractions" And it'll be WORSE than a catfight, you see?
Guys, Its confusing....What is difference between infractions & warning ? What if I receive 10 warnings ? What if I receive 10 infractions ? Hell!!!! Tell me what if I receive 3 infractions but infractions points are more than 10 ??? Thanks
A warning carries not points. An infraction has points associated with it. Ten infraction points results in a ban.
