I'm just trying to get my head around this Awstats. I've never really used it, generally I'm using statcounter to check the traffic out.

Today I went onto Google and did a quick search to see what the latest result were about my site, Wallpaperblogger.com. I noticed that there was a post on Reddit related to one of the wallpapers I posted on the night of the 30th of may.

The post on Reddit was a direct link to one of the wallpapers on the site, which is why I used Awstats to have a look at the visitors etc.

When I looked at the stats, I noticed a big spike on the 31st of may. And i'm having a little trouble understanding it.

Whats the difference between hits and visits? Is there something i should be worried about with this spike? And if it's all visits, will this have a positive affect on the Alexa traffic rank?

    Hits vs pages vs visits.
Hits = every request to the server (images/external css and js/movies)
Pages = an entire page being viewed (if you have absolutely no external CSS/JS files, or images, this will generate one hit)
Visitors = one person viewing your site.

    100gb is a lot, but if you're on a business line/ded server you're fine
