Hi guys, I hope you are doing great. I have a simple question. What is more important when you are just starting off. Quality or Quantity? I am operating a webmaster trading forum. You earn forum currency while you post which you can exchange with other forum currencies like NamePros, DNForum, and many other hosting related forums. Actually with any forum currency. I had the shop dollars on for general board and intentionally did not bother to stop people spamming that forum just to look it more crowded. Just recently I have changed some rules and took out few forums from earning my users any shop dollars. That increased the quality of posting but at the same time rate of posting has been decreased way too much. In figures i was avging over 50 topics, 400 posts and about 6000 page views daily. After changing the rules I am left with about 15 topics, 100 posts and around 1500 pageviews. So my question is what would you go after when you are just starting up, Quality of posts or Quantity of posts? Thanks for tsaking the time to vote and comment! Chodhry
yes both are important but i would rather visit an seo forum that has 500 top quality post about seo then a forum that has 5000 not-so-good/spam/off-topic post.
I would have to go with quality, I would rather have a forum filled with a less amount of posts but with great quality instead of loads of rubbish posts and not many so good posts.
Quality, I would much rather read something that appeals to me and has content that I care about rather then look at junk.
Initially to get the things rolling i think you need quantity but later on if quality is not there, members would run off. Both are equally important IMHO.
people like Mella and MG are important to build your forums - Michael Goldman and his bots can do wonder to your forums I am too trying my best to match there performance..specially MG but alas..
Quanity. If it was quality, wackos wouldn't be allowed to post, and the board would die!!! As a wise man once said, wackos are important to build your forums, and there bots can do wonders to your forums!!
For me it's quality, no matter how many it is, it still boils down on quality posts. Because quality posts are obviously more interesting.
Both are equally important it is better to find your self in a community that has 5000+ quality and interesting post.
Thakns for the advice guys. What I personally have observed so far is that quality of posts get you quality of members. A pro would never join a foum on the basis of the stats alone while on the other hand immatures may join a forum feeling more comfortable with a relaxed envoirenemnt. I have used the quantity stratagy at start but now I am focusing on quality and it is building up nicely.
of course both are important but i i could only choose one then i'll choose quality... i won't be here if peeps here are saying non sense...
Was on an anime forum a while ago, posted a passing comment about something..next day i got a message saying it had been deleted due to bad grammar (i.e. grammar similar to this post). I just left. Last thing i want to be worrying about in the evening is my grammar, quality is important but not to the extent where its almost a chore to post something.
I'm very flatterred Especially the fact you mentioned me in the same sentence with MELLA make me blush
