I'm sure some of you have heard the phrase:

"The power is in the list".

When you connect with an opt-in audience directly by email it builds trust and makes promotion of affiliate products (or whatever you want to promote) much stronger.

If you have a blog you already have posts being made on a regular basis. With a service like FeedBurner you can allow your readers to subscribe by email - this is a MUST as a large proportion won't know how to use RSS.

But what if you could take it a step further and add an autoresponder so that when they sign up to your blog by email you can send them several automatic follow-up emails.

What could be in the follow-up emails
    - You could start off with a plain welcome message letting them know what they will receive from you.
    - You can point out the best and most popular posts of all time on your blog.
    - You can recommend affiliate products related to the theme of your blog (possibly building up to pitching a product over several emails)
    - You could give exclusive tips/insights just for your email readers
    - You could promote your own products

This is very powerful as not only will they be getting all the regular posts from your blog sent directly to your email - they will be put in a funnel of auto-messages that build a relationship with your reader and eanr you more money.

How do you add an autoresponder?

I use prosender - but there are others out there. It is a pretty powerful package.

    When should I create one
There's not much point creating one when you don't get many signups to your list - work on promoting your site first - then when you start to build regular subscribers start the autoresponder system.

    What about My RSS readers?
You can use an RSS autoresponder - it works in the same way but sends auto-follow up messages by RSS so that people can read them in their RSS reader.
I've never used this but here is a useful article I found on Google:

    Hi Jason

We are actually the owners of RSS response which is an RSS autoresponder. It works almost the same as an email autoresponder except delivers via RSS.

If you sign up as an affiliate you get a free campaign which is enough for most people and be sure to look at the free feeds that you can add to your blog.
