Hi, This is probably a pretty basic question but I have been trying to optimise a campaign recently and I keep hearing about my "Quality Score", however I cant see it, is this something I should actually be able to view? Thanks
Steve, You can view your quality score at the keyword level only by taking the following steps: 1. go to one of your adgroups 2. switch to the keyword tab 3. click on customize columns 4. add the quality score column Good luck
Many different factors contribute to your QS, but to sum up the most important factor in one sentence: make a real website. Content, internal links, external links, content, no tricky arbitrage-y stuff, content, privacy policy, site info, etc. And content.
Lets not forget the Landing Page your ad points to. Frank Kern even goes as far as to say 1 campaign, 1adgroup, 1keyword, 1 landing page. Seems a bit tedious
That's sort of true, though there are different levels within each level, if that makes sense. In the UK, "Great" has minimum bids of £0.01, £0.02, £0.03, "OK" has bids of £0.05, £0.08, £0.10 and Poor has lots (though I don't know much about them ) The biggest factors when Google decides your Quality Score are advert text and clickthrough rate. You almost always want the keyword in your advert's title (without DKI-ing it, which doesn't count). There are many threads, books and opinions on improving your clickthrough rate, but I'm not sure there are any that are always true - you should be constantly testing new ads to try to improve it. Two thoughts on this though: Firstly, a good advert when you are writing it is rubbish if it looks like every other advert on the page - if your USP is the same as everyone elses (?!), you need to make your advert stand out. Secondly, if the 'shape' of the advert is important to you, remember that it'll look different at the top of the page (or on subsequent pages) than if it's on the right hand side. One further point on QS, the minimum bid QS is a fair guide to your 'bid adjustment' QS, but it's not the same. The 'bid adjustment' QS uses the same attributes, but also the landing page, and the weightings may (or may not) be different...
I wrote a little article here about Adwords Quality Score If you need some help, please PM me. I have a weird obsession with QS at the moment
No problem. Didn't want to plug too much. If you get a change, read "GuyFromChicago"s blog. (He's a member here). It has some pretty good stuff and he really knows what he's talking about. Here's his blog: http://www.ppcdiscussions.com/
