No I am referring to the technical issues where the minimum bids have increased *significantly*... I have been contacted by Google AdWords already regarding this issue and their engineers are working on a resolution to this...
My hunch is this is the response that everyone is getting today, regardless of the actual issues with their account. In some cases I bet things get adjusted to to where they should be but in other cases I'm sure there are people who thought they had great quality scores...but in reality they don't. Keep us posted - it should be intersting to see what change you notice with your keywords after they finish working out the "temporary issue".
Of course, I know that the quality score algo is subject to change this or next week but this is not a reason that the minimum bid is set to $10... Obviously, there will be changes but bids of $10 for quite targeted keywords and CTRs of more than 4% would opt out most advertisers. Well, anyway, let's see what this look like at the end of today... Until then, have a great day.
Trust me, there will be tons of people who claim to have "quality" keywords who are required to use high minimum bids, that's the point I was trying to make. Even prior to this update there must have been a thousand threads in this forum that started off; "I have super high quality keywords but Google wants $10 minimum bids to activate..." Then when you actually started looking into what they were doing it turns out there idea of "super high quality" is not correct. This update will force a lot a lot of $5/$10 minimum bids, hopefully it forces them in the right places. Should be an interesting weekend
If you have a redirect as the destination URL what landing page does google see? Our tracking tool requires us to have a redirect but this new QS change is worrying me cos I dont know if they see the actual pages or just the redirect which is obviously empty. Help please!
I sure hope this is the reason for my troubles. PLEASE keep us updated if you hear anything more. Its going to be a long weekend.... Thanks!
Novices only, I think. Those among the other thousands who think that affiliate marketing can bring them thousands over the very first night they start
<sarcasm> you mean it can't bring them thousands over night!? not even if you promote PSP, MP3, Zune AND Tv show download P2P softwares?? Goodness, and I thought I had it all figured out!!! </sarcasm> -T
I called a Google Rep this morning and just got the following email in response. Hello Mark, Thank you for calling in today, it was a pleasure speaking to you. As we discussed, several of your keywords are currently marked 'Inactive for Search.' After discussing this issue with our technical team, I can now confirm that this is the result of technical issue and we've now identified the problem and expect to have this resolved later today. I apologize for this inconvenience, and I can assure you that our engineers are working diligently to get this problem resolved. We look forward to providing you with the most effective advertising available. Sincerely, Justin W. The Google AdWords Team We had keywords in almost all of our clients accounts that had become inactive unless we would pay $10. These were by the reps own words "great performing keywords and ads". Lets just hope this does get resolved today as they say.
Looks like things are starting to come back online to normal. Had 6 Super-relevant keywords that were inactive & jacked up to 10$ with a "Poor" quality score now back down to $0.03 with a "Great" QS rating now. Anyone else seeing things back to normal? -T
I'm back to normal on a few keywords that went to $10 earlier this morning. However, I'm still waiting for an account to activate that I called them about yesterday. We own and sell PRODUCT A. My keyword are PRODUCT A, PORDUCT A, PRODUCK A (two misspellings). The ads describe the product, with it's name. It goes to the official site for PRODUCT A (only one sold on the site). Google is still demanding $5.00 for my "Poor" QS keywords. Nuts to them... Others are still on a yo-yo. Poor, then Great, then OK, then Poor...
well my costs are all back to $.30, BUT the google keyword tools says my ad isn't showing because of my low quality score. If I had low quality score, wouldn't they tell me to increase my cpc?
Mine are back to normal, too. The keywords I listed in a previous post in this thread are all back to "Great - Minimum bid: $0.03" (or lower). I do have some keywords in other ad groups that are still $5 or $10 min bid, but those are the ones I expected to be affected by the quality score change.
