I found a lot of sites which are writing free article for publishing to bloggers. Is it good to publish a lot of articles of medium quality or to publish fewer but high quality content ? Which will make the blog better - the quality or the numbers of articles ?
I think both are needed. That's the reason why these two types of articles existed, undoubtedly the quality of content writing is very important, however if it takes plenty of time for someone to write high quality articles, it still isn't that efficient and valuable. Of course, if one can meet both of the requirements, it couldn't be better!
Quality of quantity is always the best. However, if what you are looking for is backlinks through guest posting, quantity counts but your quality must be satisfactory.
Simple: go for Quality. But you have a choice. That is, test it. There's nothing like discovering for yourself. I can go out on a limb (and in truth I'm not going out very far to say this), here. You'll discover if you test, that your quality sites out-perform by we can say a scandalous margin, in sales, clicks, whatever yardstick you fancy, the sites where virtually any old thing is thrown on. As I say, you surely don't need to take my word for this... Good luck.
If you're looking for increased traffic, pagerank or targeted affiliate sales, then it is all about one thing: quality. I only write blog posts on my most successful niche blogs approximately once a month, but since my articles are generally syndicated, that provides all of the traffic and backlinks that I could possibly need. If you're able to write well, quality over quantity, 100% of the time.
It's always better to go for high quality content, i know creating a high quality content can be of time consuming. The important point you need to consider in writing content is the "first impression" since you are writing for people and not for you. When people read your content and got the positive impression then perhaps the worst case you'll have is that people will ignore but will leave a dent to them perhaps will comeback to you, and the best case of course you'll find people will be sharing your content to facebook, twitter, etc.
Are people reading your blog or search engine spiders and site scrapers? If actual human beings are reading your blog, the higher the quality of content, the better. What type of site are trying to build? One that could eventually become an authority site? One that attracts readers and regular bookmarkers? One that could potentially become a good money earner? Or... Are you building a site for links? A site part of a larger network as part of some SEO strategy? A site that's more like a feeder site? If so, you could get away with medium quality content to an extent.
I think both go hand in hand. You should always aim for a high quality article each time, but your site will not gain a lot of following if you only have a handful of articles there, no matter how great the articles are. Besides you need to constantly update your articles and make your site current, so in due time you will have a lot of articles on your site. Have a good weekend!
I would say definitely go for quality. If you post a lot of mediocre articles... this may initially get you more search traffic, and Google will like the fact you create regular, original content... BUT, I think it'll be less sustainable. Search traffic was never really that significant for me anyway, I always found social or organic word-of-mouth traffic off the back of brilliant content was FAR more substantial. If all you put out is mediocre content, there's no particular reason for anybody to remember you. People may come across your articles and think "cool", but have read similar or better quality all over the web and so have no incentive to share your work, and just will naturally forget you. Where as, think of whenever you've come across a REALLY funny or REALLY interesting and well-written piece of work, it's striking. I bet you've often immediately bookmarked when this has happened. Because it catches you off guard, you're not used to it. Most people are used to fairly mediocre content, and so if you can shell-shock them with something truly brilliant and engaging... it will make an impression. That is how you build fans, that is how you create a style, get true feedback and build real relationships. And if you do this, even if you create one AMAZING article a week... people will begin to come for that weekly gem and you will earn a reputation. That is what you want. Then, all the traffic will come to you. Amazing content just naturally spreads.
Try and write one quality, unique article per week if you are in it for the long term as traffic will grow exponentially. Otherwise, bung 2 or 3 so-so pieces on there a week and try for the fast buck. Depends on your business plan really. Good luck.
