HI guys, I'm new in this seo game and I was wondering if a blog comment backlink (dofollow of course) is a quality backlink? I've just read a reply from a member that says: at the end of the day a backlink is a backlink. What are your thoughts?
Surely backlink is a backlink. But the difference from where you are getting this link. Like that pr, alexa, technorati in case of blog, Authority etc
I believe if the comment and the link placed is relevant to the topic at hand then it's a quality back link
It depends on what you are looking for in a back link. If you are looking for traffic, a good blog comment link on a related topic blog can bring some traffic by others clicking on your link. In that case, do follow and no follow links will be of benefit. If you are looking for PR, you need to look for blog post that have high PR. It does not matter if the main blog page has PR6, it matters what PR the page your comment is on has. The downside of blog comment back links is that you do not always get the anchor text you want. It often ask for a name and the anchor will be whatever name you put in. Many times people will try to put in the anchor text they want and it will be rejected by the blog owner and deleted.
a backlink is a backlink. If you could get them in a dofollow blog with tons of traffic (almost impossible at these days) then it is better.
Thanks mate, this is what I was looking for. I was wondering why some people don't focus on blog comments since the anchor text issue. Even though it's really difficult to find high PR blog posts, I have found a lot of PR4-6 forums, but that's just the homepage. When checking the blog posts itself it's barely a high PR page.
if you are doing blog commenting for PR/back links, then for sure its helpfull. try to find related articles on quality blogs and comment. to increase your chance of being approved, you need to make sure your comment is a quaility one
If post's PR is high it is quality and if your comment is not only "thank you for good post" and it is something like this "link baiting is very interesting way, you can see more about it www.linkbaiting.com" you will get traffic too.
If the page got page rank, relevant quality content, and your comment is not spammy and seo oriented, than the link is quality backlink.
If your link is on a page that has high PR, which you can check here http://www.digpagerank.com, and is also relevant to your own site, then it will be a good back link.
It doesn't necessarily matter much whether the blog is in the same niche as your site. If it is, well and good because Google loves it more and you also get a trickle of traffic, if it isn't no matter, you still get 95 % of the link juice and isn't that what you wanted?
