Just Shake It! The Xbox 360 May Get a Second Wind

Nintendo already leads the way in the gaming industry, receiving awards and recognition for their consistently entertaining games. But with the release of the Xbox360 and Playstation 3, Nintendo had to find a way to offer something the competition couldn’t match. So Nintendo released its fifth gaming console, the Nintendo Wii, and forever revolutionized the way we interact with video games.

The Wii’s main claim to fame is its wii-mote, a controller similar in appearance to any other controller, but with one catch. Thanks to a sensor attached to the Wii, internal gyroscopes match the motion of the wii-mote, allowing you to play by miming movements that your character in the video game then imitates.

But as inimitable as the technology seemed, setting it apart from other consoles, it seemed inevitable for other game consoles to adopt the technology gamers have declared their love for. A company called Performance Designed Products has designed a remote control for XBOX360 called the Gametrak Freedom, a 3D motion controller. But  is this gadget's imitation of the wii-mote a mockery, or faithful homage?

Believe it or not, this new remote is as far from imitation as it could be. The wii-mote, as described above, relies on a gyroscope to translate your motions into commands, whereas the Gametrak Freedom relies on UltraSonic 3D position sensing. It uses sound to determine where the controller is in the room, and to define how your movements will control the game. In addition, the Xbox utilizes accelerometers that can determine the angle of the controller.

The only hindrance so far is the lack of games available for this wireless gadget. Xbox will soon release Squeeballs, a disturbing game that you must see to believe. But until that and a line of other exciting games arrive, we can only speculate how this gadget will bring Xbox on par with the Wii, and perhaps give it the momentum to surpass it.

    The Magician

With so many options for entertainment available in New York City, the difficult part is deciding where to go first. Don't worry, one of the best restaurants in town, The Magician, has positioned itself as your nexus for entertainment. Located at the center of the East Side entertainment zone, The Magician will wine and dine you while you decide what your next step should be.

Cocktails at The Magician are not cheap, but they also aren't the typical, watered down drinks you'll find at lesser quality venues. Everyone from the doorman to the bartenders are pleasant professionals intent on showing you a one of a kind experience. This kind of attention to detail is what separates The Magician from other venues, placing it at the top and casting its spell on anyone that enters.

The hard part now is deciding where you'll go to next, or whether you'd prefer to leave this magnificent restaurant at all.

    Abusive Relationships and You

While it's normally important for both people to realize they play a part in the success or failure of the relationship, such is not the case in an abusive relationship.

No one does anything to deserve to be abused. The problem with abusers in the first place is not a question of circumstances but a problem of attitudes and values. There isn't much you can do to stop an abuser from abusing you. They will find a reason to continue their behavior, and no amount of negotiating or different approaches will change this until the abuser is willing to acknowledge what they do is abusive, then change their behavior.

The hardest part is not falling into the abuser's frame of reality. It's easy to believe what they are doing isn't abuse. It's easy to believe whatever they are doing is something that could have been avoided if you had just done what they wanted, what they needed. It's easy to believe your pain is all your fault, the result of some vast misunderstanding on your part.

To be sure, it can be easy to start to see abuse everywhere. But it's important to recognize everyone has abusive behaviors. What matters is when a person develops abusive patterns. As Lundy Bancroft says in his stellar book, Why Does He Do That?: "It's true that almost everyone does yell at one point or another in a relationship, and most people, male or female, call their partners a name from time to time, interrupt, or act selfish or insensitive. These behaviors are hurtful and worthy of criticism, but they aren't all abuse, and they don't all have the same psychological effects that abuse does. At the same time, all of these behaviors are abusive when they are part of a pattern of abuse."

Don't let yourself get caught in this cycle of abuse, wondering which way is up and which way is down. Check out Why Does He Do That?, by Lundy Bancroft, and start putting your life back together today.

Your "sale" rate is higher than most "normal" rates. Who in their right mind would paid $0.10 PER word?

Lots of people will pay that. Just not people who are interested in running crappy websites filled with useless content on their ugly design.

People who actually want to make money running websites understand the value of great content.

My rates are posted correctly. I normally charge $.10 per word. At today's discount of $.03 a word, indeed, that would be $15 for a 500 word article.

$.10 a word is actually quite common as an industry standard rate. In fact, with some businesses it's a little on the cheap side!

Why do many writers charge much less? Because they have to. They cannot write content with the kind of quality that demands a higher rate. You need only look at the advertisements some of these low quality writers use to promote themselves to see the kind of quality you will receive when they write content for you. Whether or not they are from America, it's obvious they barely know the language. They have no sense for the grammar or the style.

Content Solutions is right. The internet is full of websites with great potential. Unfortunately, they sabotage themselves with terrible content. If you look at all of the web businesses that have excelled, bringing in a huge audience and a big profit, you will see they have excellent copy, THE KIND YOU CANNOT BUY FOR $.005 A WORD.

If you're a writer that can't write very well, I understand why you would charge so little. You could never get away with asking for more.

But if you're a writer that can write well, please listen to me. YOU'RE UNDERCHARGING YOUR CUSTOMERS.

And finally, if you're a business that finally wants to see the difference excellent copy can bring to your business, contact me.

Sn00py is quite right. For top-notch freelance writers, rates easily go $0.30+ per word. Assuming his product is superior - and from the quality of his ad I'd venture to guess it is - you're getting a bargain at only $0.10. And at $0.03 - it's a literal steal.

The question remains: do you want to jeopardize your business or your blog's credibility by hiring a semi-literate tenth-grader (yes, I've seen them advertise on this very forum) for $0.0005, and potentially ruin your enterprise, or do you want to pay more for top-notch, quality product that will drive sales and/or readership? The choice seems obvious to me. It's only the very foolish who continue to hire the illiterate "writers" (if they can even be dignified with that name) asking for slave wages. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I can't say it enough.
