Quality Facebook Fans...is it possible?

Hey group! I am currently using Facebook, Twitter, and Google Buzz as my primary source for social media marketing. My question, maybe more of a discussion starter, is what have you done to ensure your Facebook fans are quality fans and not just friends and family?

Here's an example of what I'm getting at. Let's say I am promoting a toy store. I want a variety of Facebook fans but it is important that some, hopefully, most of my fans have some type of interest in toys. Otherwise, they may not be that interested in what I'm saying. Does that make sense?

What methods are you engaging in to ensure your fans could have some type of interest in what you're promoting?

people that wanted to become a fan of your page would probably be a fan of what the page is all about so most probably those leads are quality leads

you really can't filter people joining your fans club. for sure, some and some people will join because they just saw something cute or joining. if you want to have a much targeted fans in facebook. i would suggest you to target first your friends you want to add. something like that.

One way is adding friends and then directing them to your fan page. You can add friends from niche groups, as I am sure you know.

Well you cant really filter people out.
Anyway, when they join ur page they probably like some aspect of it. So I guess they have some interest, youll have to then build their interest further.

you have to make sure when you add them that they are targeted enough .. the best way is to get fans from other pages that promotes the same niche

You can't really filter those friends. It's almost impossible. And in IM world you should gather traffic before getting leads so go for traffic before filtering them. That's why we keep our conversion ration normally to 3% ;)

I get people that are in clubs or groups that are relevant to my site. I then seek them out to join my network.

We don't think that facebook is effective for our B2B marketing efforts.

Quality is tough to achieve with Facebook and Twitter. Many of these "fans" won't even ever see your updates. Many others will ignore it. I think you just have to shoot for the stars and take what you can get from there...

    Hey there,

    I would suggest...

    1. Targeting groups of MOMS since this is who is going to buy those toys!
    2. Check out a site like Yahoo Answers to see the types of questions being asked
when it comes to TOYS and create content and GIVE IT AWAY FOR FREE!
    3. Try to get the MOMS to take part in Quizzes and contests!
    4. Start discussions on what toys are dangerous , etc...

    Hope this helps...

The first reason why people become your fan is that they might have found something in your offers that are interesting or things that they can relate, so if you keep on doing stuffs to keep them interested, you are creating a way to keep your fans loyal and refer your fanpage to other people.
