Quality Drop with double digit ctr...any suggestions?

Hoping someone has some idea what is going on as this really has me puzzled. I have a 7/10 QS with nearly a 18% CTR paying over $0.80 for my keyword. Log into adwords and see my QS drop to 6/10 and the first page bid minimum increase to $1.50 (previously under $0.40). Position bounces between 1 to 3.

Under what i should do google suggests the following:

"Improve the quality of your keyword and ad text, increase your CPC bid, or do both. Your ad is showing rarely and can benefit from some quality optimizations.
    ...
Reduce your long-term costs by optimizing your keyword and ad text for relevance: "

I have the keyword in the title, description, & url.

Any suggestions as this really has me wondering what is going on.

    Thanks :)

How relevant is the keyword to the content of the landing page?

What you describe happening seems to occur most commonly with words Google consider of low relevance. Unfortunately, the adwords-bot seems to measure relevance differently to Googlebot and furthermore, neither can always appreciate relevance in the same way you or I do, i.e. a word may appear logically irrelevant but have a more "esoteric" association that a computer cannot understand.

    Hi Bjewelled,

The keyword is extremely relevant to the landing page....title, metas, throughout content, etc.

Keyword appears as a suggestion by google in all there analysis tools.

    tks

I had a feeling you might say that - my previous was just a long shot!

Still, from the advice G are giving you it seems they do have a relevance problem of some sort. Is there a spelling issue of some sort? For example,b I use Anglicized versions of my keywords on my site but for some baffling reason Google gives them a lower QS than the Americanized versions that I also bid on but only use very occasionally on the site(purely for SEO purposes). Even more bizarre, Google often attributes misspellings that do not appear anywhere on the site an even higher QS!

Although I have no experience of it, the only other thing that some suggest you may get penalized for is having too high keyword density.

Keyword density appears to be fine as its near the 5% range for the body content. my qs did go back to 7/10 and a lower first page bid yesterday but today same thing happened....first page bid increased above my max cpc.

    very strange.

Thanks again for the input bjewelled :)

get a faster server to host your site (just in case)

humm i have a couple of 9/10 scores, and those are for pages/terms that have the exact search term being bought in the inbound links as well.

not sure if inbound anchor text helps.
