Hi,
I am new to the forum.
Have been in the Computer Repairs and Services field since 2006 however have just decided to get a web presence.
I am looking for any help in getting some quality backlinks in my field.

Submit your business to online directories, there are lots that are local, and lots that are internet based, i.e. zoom.info
also consider collaborating with a similar business to submit a guest blog post with a link back to your website

You could write some guest blogs on sites that are related to this niche, you can list your business on some forum or site that is dedicated to it, promote your services on social media, share links here, join and participate in some online discussions, and so on.

Yes, we can get quality backlinks through article submission, but we need to promote interesting content through this process. We will be able to get quality backlinks as well as traffic from good sites. Google, ehow, hubpages, tumblr, ezinearticles, yourstory, articlesbase, medium these platforms are good.

 

First of all, analyze what your competitors do. Use SEO tools to find this out (my personal advice is ahrefs and semrush). But don't just copy backlink profile of one competitor (Google robots will understand it soon, they don't like it). Make a research, analyze at least 5 companies.

Here are some common types of platforms:
1. Use social media (not only instagram, facebook, linkedin, twitter, but also tmblr, medium, hackernoon, etc. (google and you'll find a lot of them) (share your content there)
2. Use business listings and directories.
3. Guest posting is your friend.

And of course create high-quality original content, that people would like to share. Once you've created such content, question with links will be much more easier.

 

In my opinion, for a "local services shop", Google places and a Facebook business page are all you need.
You will get your best traffic from Facebook. Join every local notice board in your area, genuinely help people out, and don't spam.
Post regular updates/photos that your followers will like and share. Run competitions/promotions.
I really don't think you will need to worry about backlinks at all.
