Quality Backlink Exposed.

Due to the different threads that come about regarding backlink building I decided to write this quick thread regarding quality relevant backlinks. This should give you a basic understanding on what a quality link is, how it’s relevant and how it can benefit your website. Please remember that these are my personal opinions and come from years of working in the search engine optimization industry.

A quality backlink would be from a site with a Pagerank value of at least PR3. It should have over 75% of its web pages indexed (verify by checking the sitemap). The website itself should have been around at least for 18 months. This means the website has been running for 18 months, not just the length of the domain name itself. Other relevant websites should be linking to this website. This website should be coming up in the first 2-3 web pages in search results for its main keywords. The website shouldn’t be using any black hat techniques, link schemes or be spamming.

A relevant backlink is very simple to define, but yet people still tend to not grasp the idea behind it. A relevant backlink means the site linking to yours has “relevant” content to your content. Now, relevant doesn’t mean duplicate. Avoid at all costs every inter-linking with a site that has duplicate content from your site or another. Relevant content would be defined has the site’s actual subject is directly related to yours. This means if I was researching a topic on one site for a school project your site would be an excellent second source of information regarding that same subject.

    Tips
    • Use the Google Toolbar to view a websites Pagerank Value
    • Use www.archive.org to view how long a website has been up and running.
    • Use the “link:domain.com” search operator in Google and “linkdomain:domain.com” search operator in Yahoo to view a sample of a websites backlinks.
    • Use a site or tool like www.geoseo.com to view where a site is ranking for its keywords.
    • Use www.copyscape.com to check a website for duplicate content.

Man, this thread hit it right on the head. I was just about to post a thread asking what in the world was a backlink. You will probably get my $40 in the future.

Good tips.. linkdomain:domain.com now takes you to site explorer.

Do you mean PR3 homepage? Or you mean the backlink should only be from PR3 page? :O

Nice article, but i am not agree with your comment that link page must have atlease PR3..
It you looking for quality links than it is not necessary that link page must be having pr. If other criteria is satisfied than you can go for it, only pr is not important.

That makes quality linkbuilding rather difficult :) I wonder how much those 'link builders' charge for such quality links !!
