They are spun. That's one click for one dollar... NOBODY will type an article of 400-500 words for one dollars. That doesn't exist. Those people tells you they type original content but they actually copy/paste an article and spin it... Same thing with "manually submitting a link in directories". Some DPers "manually" your link in directory like 2000 directory for $2. Manually, you need a good 10 minutes to submit a link. The only "manual" thing here is the click on the mouse with the finger to start the software doing a poor BS job... The problem today is that lots of people associate Indians with those low quality jobs. They actually shoot themselves in the foot because now, even if you have a good element in front of you, the label of low quality stick on Indian webmaster. When I need a service and it's an Indian answering, I pass, like a reflex...
Unfortunately, they are serious! Fortunately... Good writers with great portfolios.. Do not need these assignments as... There is so much work out there for good writers... And the moolah is great too!!!
+1 I agree No one is going to sit down and type 500 words for $1 It is spun.. copy-paste-spin 10sec One dollar please. Same thing with $5 logo - Auto Trace clip art - one click done "oh you want a different color ?" click paint bucket - done "custom" $40 website = .99 .info - 5 -pages of spin- pasted in cheap template. They are not really working cheap I could spin 100 articles in an hour easy =$100 an hour.
thats where you are totally wrong. the exchange rate might be favorable but just look at the inflation down here and you would get an idea of what a person has to go through here to make ends meet. I know writers in India who literally work 16 hours a day and not even make $500 a month ! this is not even enough to encourage any savings ! An IT professionals are paid way more than content writers !
what clients need to understand is that we actually end up getting way way less then the amount offered. If a client gives $1 through a freelance website 5 - 10 % would be taken as commission and an additional 3 - 5 % is required for processing the money and actually bringing it in your bank account. Secondly inter bank rates are way lower. So in reality when a client offers $1 we know in the back of our mind we are settling for $0.6 to $0.7 in reality.
That is there. But a normal person would not think about inflation or future trends when they want to earn money today. If people work 16 hours a day and not make 500$, its because they might be working for someone else and they get paid only after their "BOSS" takes his major cut. I know most writers are not good enough to market themselves. Besides, there is a huge demand for native writers. You seriously do not know what IT professionals are paid. I know companies like Infosys, TCS, etc pay well. But they squeeze the life out of you. I know at least 20 of my friends who are working small IT companies in technopark where their pay is 100-200$ a month. Can you imagine working 9 hours a day, plus all other expenses and then only being paid 200$?
It all boils down to how low you would let yourself go. And this is a fact that initially any writer entering in this market has to start off with this amount because the bar is already set so low. I had to start out with a dollar per 500 words just because a provider would award a project to the lowest bid. It is only through working for more than two years I was able to upgrade that to a respectable level. When you are looking to work full time as a writer or an IT professional or a designer you have to look at inflation and all the deductions that would be made along the way otherwise working as a freelancer can never turn out to be a viable option.
and initially for the first few months I was part of that lot who worked for 16 hours a day and end up getting paid 300 - 500 dollars a month initially ! in such a competitive market none of us are left with a choice initially. You go out of a freelance portal chances are you would be scammed. Sites like elance and others just take the free away from freelancer charging such high commission rates per project
Then there is the opposite end of the spectrum.. There are people in DP who charge 1-1.5$ for 1 word. That's a lot of money
Sure. You'll get all sorts of monkeys copywriting for peanuts - but that is with SEO being the sole objective. There is absolutely still a market, and premium, for skilled copywriters when it comes to writing copy for website and other advertising / marketing collateral.
And the f'd up thing about that is that there are writers who charge one-fourth to half that, and they are a HELL of a lot better.
You know, I'm a writer (as well as a business owner) and I simply can't afford to work for 1 or 2 dollars an article. I also outsource some of my work so I can get fresh new ideas into my business blog, and I never pay my writers less than 25 dollars per 400 word article. 25 dollars minimum. Those spinning programs are awful from what I've seen.
a client wants me to do 10 articles of 300 words long @ .50/100 words. His argument? He is sending me "bulk" work! Makes me wonder if I'm going to use less efforts because I'm getting bulk work!
Grab it! I'm sure that you'll find someone who'll do it for you for .25/100 words or even less. Believe me, I've seen rates of $1 per 500 words articles being offered and also being undertaken.
What I'm not getting is who would pay that kind moola, when you can get virtually the same results with an automated article spinner.
If your an article writer then i'd recommend creating your own blog and putting all your efforts into that. At least then your potential earnings are in your own hands. Sure it'll take time, though it could potentially be worth it.
I've been writing p/t for about 9 months now. I've slowly put my rates up and gained a small group of regular clients who appreciate the quality of my work and absolute reliability. I do still use Elance and the like, but I have noticed of late that more and more native English writers are working for stupidly low rates. I don't understand how they can make it pay, but I guess they must be able to There will always be clients who would rather pay shit for shit. It's a free market after all. I prefer to work for those who actually want decent writing and are willing to pay the extra. For now i'm working two jobs and the writing work is extra money. I'd like to be able to do it f/t, but it doesn't pay enough at the moment. And in the meantime, I am pouring an awful lot of my time and effort into writing content for my own websites. I could outsource the work, but I know my own content will be better quality!
I spent 6 months writing 500 word articles for $1 - $1.50, why do it? Because after 15 months of unemployment, it was the ONLY job offer I had. I spent 10 - 18 hours a day writing articles to make ends meet. I'm sure my articles are making millions for people, as I was doing 300+ 500 word articles a week, just to make ends meet.
