Thanks for sharing. Have you revamped all your pages or just the home page?

The AdSense team have asked me, and told everyone who has asked them to maintain a visible border.

Interesting that any number of nearby and related images -not just 4- have the same effect of reducing ad blindness and increasing ad reading. Yours is, possibly, a significant research work in online advertising, Critters.

Yeah, I think your new setup definitely reduces the chance that a visitor will think that the ads are a part of the site's internal navigation, but I think--IMO--that the mass of images looks a bit too busy, with all due respect. Of course, u r the pro designer, so your instincts are better than mine.

hehe, I'm no pro designer :) it's a valid point tho and maybe a nicer collage of images would work just as well and look better.

It would seem so, but with many little images there is a reduced chance of the user thinking the ads link to the images, which is the main "beef" G have with this whole thing.

    Every ones a winner :D

I've taken your advice Critters and changed the horizontal link units which were at the bottom of the page to this:

    www.randomrant.co.uk

I'll keep a close eye on CTR over the next few weeks.

just so that you know, when i took a look at the site,
there is no visible border between the images and the ads.

i am new to this, so i am not sure if this would violate. YOu might want to take a second more professional opinion. After all, the last thing we want is Google banning us.

Hmm. Be interested in others opinions on this (Critters?). I thought because the ad had a border it was clearly marked that it was an ad.

What happened to the title on the left hand ad though? I've never seen it do THAT before!!

Also, what browser are you using? I've tested in IE and firefox and the bottom text has never been obscured like that any time I've viewed. Anyone else getting this?

Just remember guys ... a "visible border" doesn't necessarily mean activating the borders on the ad! Check out this placement and see how I used "borders" and "separators" with out affecting the ad negatively. (Remember to hover over image and size the image to size ... )

    Does it work for you?

Thats nearing perfection, thanks I am sure this will work ;), as it took me more than 15 seconds to make out that they were actualy ads, :D
The best part is that the usual visitors to my site are mostly less technicaly inclined, and most of the time ignorant about adsense :)
    Lucky me, isnt it?:p

I can't help but feel that people are missing the point.

Anyways... just email G with a link to your page asking them (politely) to take a look at your page to ensure it is not violating any TOS. I think I have said this at least 5 times now :)

I can not say, nor can anyone else, if a site is OK or not. I can only show you what I have done and had approved.

well, money tends to blind one's vision.
Especially with a thread like this, where we can quadruple our earnings.
Having said that, i do appreciate you sharing with us your discovery and how it benefited your bottomline.

Its definitely something for me to take home and consider.

I tried this idea on a few of my sites, and $$ went down. I originally had one single image above all adsense ads, and using unique pics that were relevant to the ad seemed logical so I tried it, but it actually brought down my $$ and clicks
