Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

Quadrupled my CTR thanks to DP members.

You need an <HR> between the ads and the images, or a visible border around the ads, in order to be fully compliant.

Adsense team forbids use of images to draw attention to AS. Yup they look great, but UH OH when the AS team reviews the site...I have pics on my pages but NOT to draw attention to the AS ads. I even edit out the words "click here" anywhere on my pages no matter what the link may be. I make more every month and no way am I going to endanger the AS income.

Yep. Definitely better to play it safe when dealing with the Team AdSense. If they feel like "disabling" your account for TOS violations, all that lovely income goes up in smoke.

Not if they are correct images (arrows are not correct, of course).

Sorry to repeat what is well-known for many but, as said already, although the original design on the first page of this thread is no more recommended, the AdSense team has said OK if there is enough differentiation between the ads and the images.

For example, with the ad unit as a visible rectangle. This can be done by using a border (like many of the AdSense palettes, or a CSS or HTML border), or by using a different background color (like the Blue Bird palette or several others).

This differentiation between ads and images seems to preserve good conversions for advertisers by avoiding user confusion, and therefore it prevents the smart pricing effect, while the point of interest created by correct images near ads still diminishes ad blindness.

Anyway, as also said, it's very advisable to first verify your specific implementation with AdSense support.

For more details, you may see SEbasic's summary of this thread (pages 1 and 2), or directly this thread, specially the most recent pages.

My ads as they are now...

Google TOS safe, and still better CTR than having no images. I have the problem where I sometimes get only 1 ad and it looks strange. Could be solved by putting 3 single ad units, but I'm happy with how it is now.

I don't know, but I wrote to Google about this images over ads thing and they said it is a big no-no.

It's a no-no only in some cases. As said, many of us have also written to Google, and they have clearly explained when it's not OK (user confusion from the old design) and when it's OK (enough differentiation between ads and images).

You may see for example, at JenSense, Images above ad units & complying with the AdSense terms.

Damn, I'm glad I checked back in here. I didn't realized they required a border. :/

    Thank God for "Find and Replace" software. Changing all my google_color_border = "FFFFFF"; to google_color_border = "000000";

The site was actually hacked last week - It's been a *real* nightmare trying to get it back online, but I'm working on it and it should be back soon...

In the mean time, it's still cached in Google.
