    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

Quadrupled my CTR thanks to DP members.

    And why would they bother?

I didn't get a chance to play with this last night, but I will for sure tonight... I imagine that I could see a fairly drastic improvement in CTR by using this (And the CTR is already quite high)...

My only concern, is that the site in question doesn't actually have any other images on the page at all... Maybe it will make the ads look more like, well, ads...

Perhaps we have simply just come across a new type of ad?

Nope, will make it work even better than on a site with many images. As they will be the only images on the page, ALL your visitors are going to look at them and then read the ad under/next to them. But please take the advice in this thread and keep the images generic and a border on the ad. Any huge jump in CTR is going to get your acc flagged

I'll make sure I roll it out slowly and don't go too out of my way to confuse the visitors. :)

To an automated system, you don't get one without the other. It's fine getting reviewed, as long as you are within the TOS rules

I kept refreshing the page and they started showing the anticipated way. More often than not, 1-3 ads are shown instead of 4.

Yea, that has been going on for quite a while now. There are several threads here about it but you'll probably have to go back to find them.

He's talking about the number of ads in his ONE unit, not the number of units.

That's been going on for weeks. Sometimes it's down to 1 ad in the ad unit :)

I noticed it once in a while previously. It seems much more prevalent now though.

I wouldn't be suprised it the ad-type is rotated more as the CTR increases.

You could use 3 "half banners" or 3 "buttons" to have more control over the image/ad alignment. Just remember that:

    1) keep the border to make it clear the images are not linked to the ad
    2) keep the images generic (esp in the case of products)
    3) you will not be able to have any more ads on the page

Here is how it may look with the Half Banner (234x60) I have made it 728 wide, which is the same as the Leaderboard (728 x 90) that most of you are using with images. Note that the border is on the ad, and I have matched the border colour on the images to make it look better. Also note there is a gap between the images and the ads.

    4) whenever you start using this, or if you have a new idea, run it past G before you make it live on your site. Just to check they are happy with your setup.

do you have a point on what are you saying? Google allow publisher to put images above ads as long as they is a visible border that separate the ads and images. Please think before you make any post
