Surely you aren't just taking advantage of Google AdSense, and forgot about the actual search engine? :D

WOW, 65 pages and 2 hours of reading later i'm in need of a break:) but i have found it very interesting and gave me a nice idea how the members respond and interact with each other, i think this is one of the best forums that are out there regarding the communication with each other.
On other forums even the Mods don't really get involved with the threads or reply's but here everybody throws in their knowlegde and expierence, i will definitely be coming back often here, no doubt!

Seems this thread will never die :)

So, at the moment I made SIX Images over ads *lol*:
Now Google can choose how many ads they want :)
I hope these are now ok? I am continuing experimenting these things.

    Easy all,

Cheers for this thread and all info contained within! It has taken me three non-productive afternoons at work to read it all and I think it is going to take many months to implement it all properly!

Will certainly be interested to see how it all goes post-changes!

    Ta,

I updated my layout a few days ago with the suggestions here and at least at first glance it seems like it's working.

I think I am right on this one bud, I have not seen the wide skyscraper(vertical ads)160x600 change from 5 ads to anything else.

I have a few sites that those ads stay as 5 ads and I cant find one site outthere that using the 160x600 changes from 5 ads to anything else.

So I would say its the one they wont affect so using images with the 160x600 might do the trick.

Each site is unique. Your site's content is most likely very well primed for AS ads, whereas another site might not have enough content that the AS genie can use to fill full a 160x600 unit. If you are getting a full block each and every time then that's great. But I'm certain that other sites with less content won't fare as well.

    But it's all good.

    As always, IMO.

As always check with Google, and the height values in each row may need 'tweaking' to get the best results. shim.gif is a transparent 1x1pixel gif and 1.gif to 5.gif are your ad images which I recommend are 60x100pixels

I fully understand what your saying and dont doubt it at all. But after extensively looking around at over 120 adsense sites with the 160x600 I havent found one that does not have all the ads versus all other type of ads that i see changing on many pages. Besides not having enough content it seems that the change really has not affected these 160x600 ads. So im taking it that if you have decent content the 160x600 ads are stable to do the images along side them.

you can have changing images (tho make a test and get it checked by G first) but they are showing specific phone models, so I think the images they are using are not generic enough.

I did this with flash (and had them fade from one image to another) and G approved it, but the images were generic.

I have a question for some it might sound silly, How will you determine if google is serving 4 ads or 3 ads? If we can find out that we can activate a part of code to display three images for three ads and 4 images for four ads... Is it possible?

prob not, prob not even worth it. Just make your content rich enough that it will mostly show 4 ads
