That's good to know, thank you. I've just applied it to my blog. Still looks fine really.

If it's true about this 'border around the images' thing, then it's only true of none-UK publishers, as I've had specific e-mails twice from Google AdSense UK that it's ok for me to have my images as they are above the leaderboard, with no borders.

Bad luck to the rest of the world, eh. ;)

Been reading this thread from the start - so thanks to Critters for creating a "monster" ;^)

I e-mailed Google AdSense US recently and was told [paraphrasing their comments!] that they "strongly recommend" a visible border around the ADS (did not say the IMAGES).

I was also told to be careful to use images that are not misleading (trying to imply the images are related to the Advertiser that the ads links to) or using images to draw undue attention to the ads.

Putting a border around the ads is easy to set up in the AdSense publisher Admin. I wasn't told anything about the color the border needed to be - just visible.

Critter also commented earlier in this thread (post #442, pg 45) on what is the way to best select images so they are not confusing or misleading.

I would like to know for sure if it's a border around the ads or images - or maybe either?

I think G would prefer round the ads.. as images with borders just look like regular images :)

I think they would also be happy with a HR tag between the images and the ads.. but as you say it is not against the TOS.. but best to do as they ask to keep everyone happy... may be a slight fall in CTR for people using images at the mo, but should still see an increase in CTR for those not using images at all.

and WOW on reading the whole thread :)

I think you mean a BR tag. Just thought I would clarify so a bunch of people don't go putting Hx tags between their images and ads :)

A HR tag ads a horizontal line.

well a 1 or 2 pixel high image would be more up-to-date ;) but you get the idea... definding the line between ads + images.

    Hi Guys,

What do you think about this animated flash over the first ad block on this site: http://jogos.hex.com.br/
    ?

Should I change something? Or should I mail G and ask if its ok?

    Thanks,
    Tiago

Take it down, put it on a hidden page, email G and ask.

I did the same with flash, and they said it was OK, but they may have changed their minds and my flash was more subtle than yours.

    LOL

I thought that "hidden page" you said was a page with no directs visits... I wanted that more people here could see the flash...

Now I edit the post and removed de link :)

Wow this is a great forum I have stumbled upon - Critters - have you seen any noticible change since you lost your pigs?

when do you plan on posting your results?

I have been experimenting with colored backgrounds / non-colored backgrounds for my adsense but thats about the extent of it

What is G's view on adding rollover sound bleeps or clicks on images above ads?

I thought this would be quite a nice touch if emlployed subtley.

Critter; i'm sure you'll probably know the answer seeing as you are the god of images above ads ;)
