    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

Quadrupled my CTR thanks to DP members.

I implemented this technique on one of my mini sites 24 hrs ago. This site usually saw nearly double digit CTR anyway so I wasn't really expecting too much. Its a little early to call it a killer technique yet, but CTR has more than doubled overnight ......... I'll see how its going in a week.

I tried this method on both my websites today. Can't wait to see the results...

I made the images randomly rotate, so they won't be the same too often.

The forum archive in vBulletin has lifted from less than 1% click through to 7% click through thanks to this technique (only a couple of days into it so far). here on other pages or other sites, I've managed to get the CTR up to an average of 20-30% and my best page has held at 40-50% CTR.

    Cheers for the great tips.

I just found this thread by accident and I just had to rush away and try this on one of my sites!

Anyway, I use Mambo so I find it hard to implement ideas sometimes, but I have made an attempt on one of my sites here: www.ParentsHut.com
I think it looks too 'Busy', any thoughts?

    Thanks for a wonderful forum.

I'd rotate them and cut the AdLinks above it down to four so they'll line up nicely as well.

    Dominic: 40-50%! Crikey that's a nice CTR!

Thanks for the suggestions! I have changed the ad units to 4 only, I will work on rotating the images, just gotta work out how to do that with Mambo!

I know what I am going to be busy doing for the next week - I have quite a few different themed sites to try this on!

    Cheers

Just a thought, a sudden increase in CTR + earnings with no increase in traffic will prob get your site flagged and looked at by a google employee... so, please make sure your sites are FULLY within googles TOS before you make any changes.

If in doubt about ANYTHING you do to your site to do with adSense ads, EMAIL GOOGLE and they will reply with a clear yes or no.

Many people have asked about images above ads and have all been told it is OK, but this really is a case-by-case thing as the ads + images will differ from site to site.

And always remember the good old-fashioned way of increasing your earnings... get more traffic (i.e. make sites that people want to visit and have useful or fun content)

*just wanted to say all that in case someone cries when they get their acc disabled when their site that brakes the TOS gets looked at when it starts earning*

Agree, static images are ok, some people using animated flashy gif images have been advised to restrain by google. Also it depends on the fact that such ads should have some relation to the content or theme of the site.

    Critters,

That's an awesome input, we'll certainly be trying those on our sites...

Cool saying, welcome to DP (as I see this is your first post) I would make a copy of one of the pages of your site, add the images above the ads then email the URL to google to get their OK. Only when they OK it should you then roll it out to the other pages of your site. and do not make publicly available the URL of this demo page.

    Looks good.
I did something similar on my website (see this page: http://astrologyweekly.com/astrology-articles/index.php ), the CTR improved 2.5 times for the top 468x60 ad. See also the images associated with the 336x280 ad in the middle - I'm still waiting for the results.
    The images are displayed randomly.

Many thanks to all DP members who shared their experience!
