Yup, will do! I'll post my latest findings real soon!

Oh...wait...I have no AdSense account. Must have been a daydream I was having.

I'm using relevant images and the ads being served are relevant as well. But there must be a small inventory of advertisers because I see mostly the same ads week after week. Since most of my visitors are repeat the CTR boost was bound to be short lived with few new ads showing. But having said that, it is dropping off slowly, not abruptly. Maybe I can keep mixing it up and keep the CTR up there. On the page I used the rotating images the CTR was very high.

I did notice something else. It looks like the average amount per click went up at the same time the CTR went up. Does that make sense? I was used to seeing mostly $0.03 per click on that page and then it tripled.

As an advertiser on adSense you can post back to G when you make a sale or get an enquiry, you just put a bit of code on your thankyou or payment accepted page. You can even post the value of the payment and then on your adWord account G gives you a "conversion ratio" which is the number of clicks vs the money made... G use this info to set the click through cost of ads on your site.

You can read more on the google FAQ pages under smart pricing.

Time and patience. It takes me *forever* to draw anything using a computer and make it look decent.

Then again, I suppose talent might have something to do with it too.

The pig drawing was fun, even though it turned out awful. It'd be nice if you could use the right mouse button to erase. (Or can you? I never even tried).

Since the industry's trying so hard to get people to quit using tables for layout, does anyone have thoughts about doing this with CSS?

I wonder if duration of the visit is factored into the smart pricing. I mean, hardly anyone clicks on an ad and buys something right at that moment. They usually return at a later date to buy it.

I think the fact that the user clicked on the Google ad and actually looked around, clicked some other links in that site, well, it should amount for something...regardless of whether they purchase or not.

Critters, I haven't been this excited about adsense since I started using it.

Please have a peek at http://www.picturepuppy.com, one of my sites that I am experimenting with.

I'm not overly concerned about it being so in your face, after all I offer a free service. I originally thought about putting it at the bottom and then making the little buttons at the bottom become just links....to avoid clutter....if that's possible.

Your thoughts? I know I've already seen a jump in clicks.

    Thanks

    J

PS Would my links page be breaking the TOS?

    Cool

    I would:
    • make the images all the same height
    • move the paypal button to the bottom of the google ads (this will move the ads up) if people are going to donate they would have used your site loads and will find the donate button nomatter where you put it, so there is no need to put it so close to the top.
    • I am a fan of left aligning the images (as the ad text is left aligned) give it a go.
    • the table with your member login needs some cellpadding or cellspacing
    • in the LitePlan - Platinum table, maybe the things that are changed in the upgrade are in a different colour? as there are many things that are the same. This will make it easier to read and more interesting to look at.

That's all I can think of right now.

you would need to run some sort of javascript random image picker.. my javascript skills are not quite that good, sure some nice DP'er will post some tho..... *waits*

while we wait... you could just use different images on each page of your site. this would be almost as effective.

    Thanks for looking... ok

    1. Cannot make them the same hieght, they are pulled from the actual pictures people upload.
    2. Moved the Paypal button
    3. Aligned the images left
    4. Not sure what you mean on cellpadding/spacing for the login
    5. I'm looking into the plan table

    Again, thanks for your input

So I re-did the layout of www.NerdyGamer.com to be more "Adsense Friendly" in the header area ... what do you think? Any suggestions?

Good but not great. The pictures don't seem to merge well with the individual ads. I also like Critters single color idea. His pics are much larger than yours and seem more integrated.

Unfortunately, I'm not creative enough to tell you exactly what you can do, just critical enough to show you where I see the problem at :)

    4. Done

Thanks, lets see how it goes, I will report back.

Go to one of the links, there were real ads there.
