For those who don't know yet, Qassia is a new beta site launched in Jan 08. Its still on private beta right know, but you can get in by "invitation", which is actually just a link to an existing member's qassia page. After signing in for the first time you get 500 Qassia-$ by inviting others within 12h of your registration. The following 24h you still get 200 Q$ for every referral. After that it's 100 Q$. After Qassia comes out of private beta, the referral system will be gone. So what's all this Qassia-$ business? You can spend your qassia bucks on quality backlinks to your websites. The site is set up just to do this. The main source of Q$ after Qassia comes out of private beta is submitting or screening "intel" (short useful articles written by Q members). You get a weighted amount of Q$ for your submissions based on user ratings and length. You get 7 Q$ for each intel you screen. The most I've ever gotten for submitting intel was 200Q$, but I'd say the the average return is around 80-100. I just dug up old high school papers, cleaned them up, made them a little more presentable, and submitted them as original content. It's tedious as hell, but the backlinks are worth it. For everyone not in Qassia yet- take advantage of the referral system while you still can and get some friends to sign up through your qassia page the first two days after becoming a member to nab a few thousand Q$ like I did! Head over to my invite page: spectro.qassia.com And happy backlinking =]
It's more than worth it if you get as many friends to sign up as you can during the first 12hrs. I had 5 friends sign up (500Q$ each)- landing me at 2500 Q$. 2500 will be waay harder to achieve after coming out from private as the currency deflates (less supply after cutting off referrals) and they start growing high PR.
This made the rounds in Active Rain a few months ago. I haven't heard much about it since...until now, and the posts now remind me a lot of the posts then. To me, it seems a little spammy. Best of luck with it though, and feel free to let me know 'why' if you I'm wrong.
I'm giving a heads up and my two cents about a decent new site, and that's spam? What has the internet come to! Here's news hot off the press. Hate to say I told you so =P
