Q about image-ads and placement targeting

i started using image-ads and topic-related placement targeting on adwords yesterday.

So...i have one adgroup for topic-related pages, and in the adgroup there ism a text ad and 4 banner ads in various sizes.

Over night now the text ad got many impressions and clicks - the image ads did not.

I am confused since i dont know how google prioritises what kind of ad it will show on those sites. Why did only the text-ad get impressions...but not the image ads ?

the sites in question should allow all kinds of ads, text and various sizes of banners. Can i just delete eg. the text-ad...and then it shows the image ads ? Or is google just experimenting and rotates those varioations and then keeps the ad (image, text, whatever) with the most impressions ?

    Georg.

    i found this for now:

"Google's technology determines on a page-by-page basis whether text ads, image ads, or video ads are likely to make you more money, and serves the appropriate format to your page."

no Adwords Guru out there who knows more ?

My image-ads just dont get any impressions. I paused one text-ad in a placement campaign over night and i have various sizes banners as images (all the right stadard-banner sizes as G recommends)...but they just dont get impressions. (as a reminder: In that placement campaign i have as ad variations: one text ad and 4 or so banner-ads)

Maybe google needs some time to approve the banners and they didnt do over the weekend ?? Otherwise i have n oidea why they didnt get any impressions.

Google does take longer to approve image ads than text ads in general; they have to actually be looked at by a person, because there's no obvious algorithm to check an image in this context, I think. Also - no they don't do it at weekends.

I agree with "magda" that image ads. take longer time to approve in comparison to text ads. It might take 4-6 days to get approval from Google. When they will approved then you will see impression on your image ads.....(100% sure)

The reason for 0 impressions, can be Google's technical problems that affects some accounts.
