Putting Adsense into a Script.

In the situation where a person wrote a script, and made it freely available, would that person be at risk if he included his adsense ads in the script by default?

For example. Let's say there is a open source CMS that features an advertising space, so that the script users can monetize their traffic. If the orginal authors inlcuded their adsense ads in the advertising space by default (and only my default, it could be changed later easily by the user), would the authors be looking at any future problems?

Yes, there would be trouble, as they might appear on pages that violates the Adsense TOS.

    And prolly other problems too.

I'm not sure, but like he said it could be on sites that violate the TOS. I've seen adsense code added to wordpress skins that were freely available though.

You'd have no control where your script appears. It could appear on a site running 3 ad boxes already or worse yet a porn site. I'd be willing to bet if you did this and your script was used a lot you'd soon find yourself banned.

I guess my best bet is to just simply include at "Powered By" link in the footer.

I guess you could include anybody's client ID on any site and cause them to be in violation of the terms. So, this is pretty much a grey area. I suggest you avoid this type of practice, but it is grey.

According to section 5. Prohibited Uses, (vi) of the Google AdSense TOS on this page https://www.google.com/adsense/terms

IMO, that answers your question. Other people's interpertations may vary.
