so it is official, putin has given his blessings to the iranian government with regard to their nuclear programme, and with russia now a sworn ally who is going to approach iran?
it would be foolish of the west to assume that russia, in its new capitalist incarnation, would forge stronger ties with the west when it has a substantial border with iran and can gain more from good relations with its oil rich neighbour.
seems this world is dividing into two distinct camps, with the west facing an insurmountable enemy, even moreso if it were to be joined by the largest nation on earth - china.
    sobering thoughts.:(

    hmm neo con idiology ?

If we ask, what Putin gains from the west? Did anyone from the west backed Putin to be a member of WTO [to your knowledge 151 countries are members of it] ? No, so why he should be against Iran? Plus Iran buys arms from Russia. If west doesnt let Russia to be the same member as themselves, why should he care about the west?

Everyone lives with their own interests.
