What Shawan has in mind is his own business, but that's the basic idea of rev sharing..

Well we have over $30,000 debt weighing down our progress so whatever ideas you come up with are fine with me, so long as I can still shout out for people to nominate to support our work with their rev sharing. Our paypal email is: donate at homeless.org.au if you can help with a donation.

The amount we get from rev sharing is not a lot but it's cheap money. As in, we have to work for all revenue we make (donations, fund raising, etc). The expensive money takes more money and time to make, the cheap money takes less time and money to make.

The cheaper the money is to make, the more time we can spend and more money we can spend on working with the homeless, rather than being in the business of helping the homeless and raising money (if that makes sense).

It's the most frustrating part of running a non-profit. My plan was to marry Nicole Kidman but some bastard called Keith beat me to it.

If you are discussing other charities to give to, pick small local ones. If they have a nationally recognisable brand they have a balance sheet that would make most millionaires jealous... tens of millions in unused funds (I'm gonna go cry in the corner).

Anyway, great to hear there is such a strong passion amongst DPers for helping charity.

I have it from a Keith fan friend of mine that (in her state of denial at her own crushed plans to marry Keith) says Keith is only a pawn in Nicole's competition against Mr. Cruise - so there may still be hope for your plan. ;)

I whole heartedly agree with you here. The small local charities are always the more pressed for cash than the ones that toss off massive amounts of cash to pay large staffs and TV advertising, etc. On a small level a few hundred dollars can mean the difference between a small charity staying open or closing it's doors, where for the larger ones it could only mean the difference between the staff having donuts or Milano cookies by the staff coffee maker.
