You can't put your site in DMOZ. Only editors can do that.

best you can do is apply for admission like everyone else and cross your fingers and wait. I have 3 sites in the Dmoz and I only remember applying for one of them but they all made it in there. just takes time.

First of all I would spend a lot of time researching what category to submit your site to. Once you have found that click the suggest a URL button.

No one can do that for you. Just submit your site and wait for it to be approved.

I've waited for 5 months to get my old site added to DMOZ. Patience is a must in this case.

Your site will probably not added to DMOZ :( because you wouldn't ask how to get added, you would be already there :)

You should submit your site to the relevant category. However, will your site be included or not depends entirely upon the mood of a certain category moderator. Your best bet is to wait and hope.

    Read the guidelines here http://www.dmoz.org/add.html.

Then find the correct category in DMOZ, and press the 'suggest URL' button on the top right. Add your site.

It can take from a few days to a few years to get a review for a possible listing.

If you check on the sub category to this one you will see that there is a whole category which only deals with DMOZ, you can read the posts and the stickie and you will find everything you ever wanted to know.

What about having submitted multiple times to DMOZ - I think I've tried twice or thrice, and not sure if I am being rejected because of this or not? Anybody get listed in DMOZ after submitting multiple times? any and all help would be appreciated - thanks!

    Don't do it.

It is against guidelines to submit multiple times. http://www.dmoz.org/add.html
Also if an editor goes to clear out the suggestions pool we sometimes only address the older sites and a re-submission changes the datestamp for the older submission, making it look like a new one and potentially overlooked by editors. Sometimes multiple submissions will simply get the site banned for spamming.

We don't lose sites, well not since the crash a few years ago, so if your site is not spam canned it remains in the suggestions pool until an editor volunteers to work that area, that can be a few days or a few years. We also do not advise submitters if a site has been used or not used. But if we have not used it, you would need to rebuild it from scratch with unique content rich material for it to have a chance of being listed.

I think if your site 80% SEO oriented and there is no bad linking at all so DMOZ have to add this. Otherwise no chance

Apply for a category with between 15 and 100 sites INCLUDING sub categories.
Have three sites that fit the category exactly.
Describe and Title them according to guidelines http://www.dmoz.org/add.html ensuring that you spell correctly and the grammar is good.
Be absolutely honest about any other sites that you have an affiliation or relationship to.
Think why you want to be an editor and why we would want you to be an editor and explain that.
Be prepared to have to apply several times before you are accepted.
It is often better to apply for a small regional category, say the one you live in, learn the ropes and then apply for other categories. If you do well and want to get on the first category you apply for is only the start.

    Good luck.

We have absolutely no interest whatsoever in a site's SEO orientation. I would not know what to look for and I have listed over 10,000 new sites.

We are interested in content rich sites that enhance the category that the editor is working on. We have no interest in how old the site is, except for forums and blogs which have to have worthwhile posts, no interest in how well the site is constructed, no interest in if it is the latest gizmos, no interest in page rank. In fact we have been criticised for using over 10,000 geocities free sites and even more criticised for trying to replace as many as the sites as possible that we lost when it closed.

Remember suggestions are just that...suggestions and it is not the only source we use, editors do not even have to use the suggestions pool. all editors are volunteers and the site will wait until an editor volunteers to work on that area, this is our hobby done in our spare time. We are there not to review the suggested sites in order to list as many as possible, we are there to build categories with sites that we think will be useful for people wanting a collated categorised group of sites on a particular subject. We have no interest in any weight our listing might give to a particular site.

Main key is unique content rich site which will enhance the category (for full detailed information read http://www.dmoz.org/add.html and http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html ). But even a site that fits the guidelines may wait for several years for a review for possible listing.

I really do not know why anyone points to the guidelines in threads like these... the guidelines are just that, GUIDELINES and they do not need to be followed by the editors, so I fail to see why the submitter would need to bother with them at all.

If you are submitting your site to directories, then by all means, submit it to the ODP, it is after all a directory... but if you are going to read the guidelines to ALL the directories you are submitting too, you'll find there simply is no time...

Find the best category and submit... if you think your site is ready to be listed ANYWHERE then it's likely ready...but, erm, heh... make sure you actually have content, any content! A half-made page will likely not be added to ANY directory.

If you are not bothering to submit to directories in general, then why are you wanting an ODP listing? just move on and promote your pages as best you can in the manner you generally do. Editors are not required to look at the suggestion pool, and even if they do, they don't need to list your site...so taking a special effort to get listed on the ODP is simply a waste of EVERYONE's time.

    SUBMIT & FORGET!
    or
    FORGET 2 SUBMIT!

Why we have to wait 3-4 months ?? I don't think that there are so many sites in my category to wait more than 3 months to be accepted. I checked my category every day and no sites were added for 3 weeks. I've also send an applications to become editor but no response for 2 weeks. Please work maan, I hate waiting

    Tell someone who cares:mad:

Volunteer editors are building a directory but NO site is guaranteed inclusion and we do not provide a listing service for webmasters like you. Suggest your site, it may or may not be reviewed and may or may not be included at some stage in the future. You can do nothing else so then just move on.

If you submitted an editor application you should have recieved an auto response and a link to click, if i remember correctly. We need editors that are going to help grow the directory, not simply include their own site and do nothing else. I have concerns about people such as yourself, when they make posts like you just did.
