I spent weeks checking out chat scripts to add to my site. I finally went with prochatrooms. They have a really good deal if you want to add webcam hosting (only $20/month for unlimited chatters). Many chat scripts charge per how many people can chat at a time. V3 chat is also a good script if your looking for something with a few less features and for a few less dollars. If you're looking for an almost free chat script ($5), you might want to check out the website tufat(dot com). They have some pretty good flash chat software.
you can try irc got to freejavachat embed the code into your page then login to the irc network and registar your channel. you will need to know irc commands to registar your room and name You can always look on google for irc commands if you get stuck and the irc support is very good too.
Just choose carefully. I was using a service called AimBoo and it shut down!! Now I will have to find another service. I suggest using a PHP script.
