There are some people who naturally have a harder time gaining weight than others, no doubt about it, but I think that population is significantly smaller than you would think. I used to think I was a hard-gainer, when I was playing high school basketball, but it just turned out I was doing way too much cardio. Once I stopped doing cardio and concentrated on lifting, I put on 45 pounds of muscle (I used to be 225, but now am leaning down again for mountaineering). People used to always say I was naturally skinny, now they say I'm naturally big. It's really mostly about your diet and exercise regimen, with genetics being probably 20-30% of the rest.
Diet is a huge part, but don't kid yourself some of us can put on muscle mass alot quicker than others no matter the diet. I can lose fat while gaining muscle, most people can not do that
I try to concentrate on my heart condition, which means at least some cardio as well I'm aiming for 7% body fat, right now I'm about 11
I think you'd be surprised. Most people can gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, it just takes a lot of effort, which most people aren't willing to put forth. Give yourself some credit man, you lift twice a day, six days a week! Most people who say they lift, do it two or three times a week and take it pretty easy when they do. They don't push through the last few reps or skip other things to spend an extra half hour at the gym. It takes a lot of time, effort and thought to really get big and most people aren't willing or are unable to do it.
I don't intend to sound rude here but you have no clue what you're talking about. Most people, infact it's often reported you can not lose fat while gaining muscle. That's the entire point behind the bulking 'excess calories' and cutting phases. Yes I bust my ass off, but even w/o lifting I am bigger and stronger than most that do lift. I am an easy gainer, I can put on 2-3 x the amount of weight and strength as a normal person, even if we do the same exact lifts. I have about as big of a frame as you can get, I gain muscle much, much easier than the normal guy, it's as simple as that.
Whenever I have done weights, whether in school or later, I don't gain much size at all, I do gain strength however. I have never done protien shakes or the such (on purpose.) Being around 140 lbs, I surprise most people when it comes to lifting something, or even turning a wrench, so I figure I am not doing to bad, yet I wouldn't mind a little bit of gain in size.
When i was playing football and practicing judo 200 now only 40-50 ... but now i only stay at the computer and working my finghers
What you gain depends on many things including how you lift, many reps of light weight = strength and endurance.. Bulking for mass muscle size low reps with heavy weight.. Diet and genetics also comes into place
