If you are on Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) and you are logged in with your Digital Point user account with the Safari browser, you will have an option to receive push notifications directly to your Notification Center on your computer. Push notifications notify you in real time of anything that would show in your normal "Inbox" popup menu (like new conversations) as well as anything that shows in your Alerts menu. If you allow push notifications, you can adjust how you want them to display in your normal Notifications settings: Then you can see stuff happening in realtime without a browser open. Personally, I don't normally use Safari (I use Chrome)... but I just used it to initially set up the push notices so I know when stuff is going on (again... don't even need to have Safari open).
Doubt you'll ever see that since Windows doesn't support push notifications (Mac's support it already so it really is just Safari utilizing what's already there).
How about a small app for Windows 8.1 that will notify alerts and conversations? Like messages in Skype App for Windows 8.1 pop up when you are in desktop mode.
No, currently only works on OS X. Hopefully Apple will open up the technology to iOS at some point... then it will work on iPhone, iPad and iPod too.
I have to say, I've really become addicted to this. I've been forgetting when I get alerts on other sites, I don't get notified instantly, and forget to check the sites. hah
