Hi I have started couple of sites - but there is barely any traffic (niche include: travel, webhosting). One of my friends suggested - why don't you buy some traffic - surely upon searching on Google - bunch of websites offered such service. My question(s): 1. How effective is this way of promoting the website? 2. Is it organic traffic or some bot hitting your server? 3. Can some one provide me list of sites they have used in past and found to be good? It depends on the traffic. Buying traffic has lot's of branches and the most effective way is PPC. Buy traffic from google adwords and facebook as it's the most effective and cheap. You should buy traffic from big PPC sites. PPC is good enough to increase your website revenues. Some of the PPC website has a good conversion rate. Big Traffic is not necessarily you get better.

You can never say paid traffic will be good or not, because success of paid advertisement depends on several things, which includes - Market research - Demo-graph research - Ad Copy - Testing - Source of traffic Note that buddy if you want to try paid traffic your market research and Demographics research must be of good quality. Facebook is around $0.50/click but if you have a nice site and a good sized budget you can do great with them.
