Purchasing Domain With Page Rank

What happens if you purchase an expired domain with page rank? Is the domain going to retain it's page rank? My thought would be yes, but it may be complicated because if it's a site getting tons of backlinks to pages that aren't the home page.

So what's the case with expired domains with page rank? Are you able to buy them and then set up a home page and have the PR still or no?

The pageRank will retain only if u develope a website before the next google bot crawl..... or else it will be tuned in to n/a

I think the Google PR is nulled after the expiration of the domain names. When the toolbar updates you'll see the new values (pr 0).

I think the domain itself is more important. So you'd better try to make it more associated with your current website.Whether the pr is still kept,it's not sure. But what you can do it try to improve the pr of your new
website to make it popular and attractive.

In my experience it seems hit and miss, sometimes you lose the PR and sometimes it stays. Depends on the quality of the inlinks and how quickly you get content back up on the site.

Thanks guys. I wasn't planning on leaving the site blank, but I recognize it is likely that nearly all of the links going to the pages of the website would be lost unless I found in webmaster tools what pages had links that were no longer pages... Anyways, thanks for the help.

no it doesnt retain the PageRank. the reason is because there is a period after the domain has expired (where the domain holder is able to renew the domain). in this time Google will have already found out that the domain is/will be expiring.

    a way around this is:
if the domain is in this situation, have the previous domain owner renew the domain and sell it to you.

So your best bet would be to try and contact the owner about a transfer if you think they might drop it?
