Purchasing content from closing down site

    I'm considering purchasing content from a site that is soon to be closed down. The content is indexed with Google. My question is: how long will it take until this content is not considered duplicate? I assume it is until the site gets taken off Google's index (not sure how long that takes) but would appreciate your opinions on this.

    Why not just buy the domain and take over the site? You will benefit from the PR as well.
