Well a lot of bloggers who were on PayPerPost selling links, Google made their PR as zero. In other words it hurt both the buyers and the sellers. So if you want traffic then they are good but make sure that you insist that bloggers use nofollow tag so that you don't get hurt. But if you want SEO, don't even think about it.
when did this happen? I have seen a competitor to one of our sites run a few post links and gain ranking... I have a deposit there what would you reccomend?
Make sure you ask for blogs with page rank other wise your post will go on MFPPP blogs. (Made For Paid Per Post}
I used them... before the really big stink about paid links began. As far as I can tell, Google turned all their links to PR 0 and simply assumed all blog links were crap... even though I only had a very small number of paid posts... all my blogroll links were real... but either they are now discounted or my entire site is heavily penalized. Be very careful how you go about this. Also, please note, bloggers doing PPP know that PR is important to their earnings, so they have learned how to raise their PR... meaning you may pay a lot, but you'll still be getting posts in a blog that doesn't have much by way of readership. In other words... don't bother!
so the people using them are idiots? just wondering. I have some deposit there that I need to use... what should I do?
If you can't get your money back, then you might as well get the posts. Just don't expect any SEO benefit. All PPP bloggers are required to display the PayPerPost logo which I assume G easily recognizes. I doubt that any link within the post has any value other than possible traffic from the blog and possible buzz building. /*tom*/
