Purchasing a City Domain Name

I have a great opportunity to purchase a city domain name... in this format 'flintmi.com'. (Not the domain. I just used my city as an example.)

It's for a very small city. However, before I acquire it, I'd like to be relatively sure that the actual city can't force me to turn the domain over to them.

    Your feedback is appreciated. :)

Your fine. This is completely legal, I'm pretty sure your city has not got a copyright on there name anyway.

Take a look at London.com for example, London City Council don't own this domain, someone has made it into some random travel site.

Nothing they can do to you. I'd buy it and then contact them. See if their interested in buying it back. Make a nice little profit on it.

The city can't make you turn over the domain. I hope this helps

I've seen loads of people run such sites and having no issues with it at all.
