Purchased directorysubmitter.com - Mini Review

Discussion in 'Websites' started by Sir Tom, Mar 12, 2006.

I purchased Directory Submitter from directorysubmitter.com the other day as a result of this software being previously discussed on this forum. So here is my mini review:

    PROs:
-Automatically fills in fields (Site title, description etc.)
-Directory list sent/unsent flag is automatically adjusted when you submit to the directory.
-Multiple profiles (IE: websites to submit list)
-Cycling of site title, keywords, and description. Set in 5 titles and it will rotate between 5 titles.
    -Ability to import/export history.
-There is a central database update server (not sure how often it is updated)
    -311 directories included in original

    CONs:
-No way to remove directories from list. In the first 50 directories there were 13 directories in which I was unable to submit to (about 25%). Some directories are niches (only .UK sites) and some just aren't accepting any more submissions. I'm concerned about the amount of time this will waste me. Also, since there is no way to remove the directories from the list I'm concerned about wasting even more time trying to submit different websites to these directories.

-The "Sent/Unsent" status doesn't always seem to save. At first I thought it was just my memory failing me, but it seems that when exiting the software, the last 10 or so directories marked as "Sent" will have their status not saved. I have found myself re-submitting the same site on the same directories as a result.

-Advertises it's product to the directories. For any field asking about who referred you, how did you hear about us etc. it will put in "From using Directory Submitter" while any password hint fields also contain a "Used Directory Submitter" text. If I was an editor and saw this I would be very skeptical about approving the listing.

    Summary:
I'm really not sure how I feel about this product. It saves me time by automatically filling in the forms and marking directories I submitted too. Yet on the other hand it wastes so much of my time by having so many bad directories, and not saving the last directories I submitted too.

I believe that if the maker of this software could fix the cons I mentioned above, this would be fantastic software.

I thought this was free? Atleast I didn't pay.

Anyways, yea deffinitely has some pros and cons.

But it does make submitting a lot quicker w/ the auto fill feature. :)

Unless you're thinking of another program, the one at http://www.directorysubmitter.com/ says $97, payable through Paypal or Stormpay.

    Yea you're right.

    Check out submithelper.com

It's basically the same software you described and it's free! :)

Thanks for a detailed and revealing review. I have not seen any of the "cons" mentioned elsewhere and they are very pertinent to the decision as to whether to purchase this product.
