Hello, I just happened to check my PageRank yesterday and was surprised to see that a domain I purchased 2 months ago, uploaded to 1 1/2 month ago, and is more or less just a simple sales letter with some pictures already got through the sandbox and got a PR1. Another site I have is a year old and still has no PR at all, though I have tried to used all tricks and trades. So right now I'm trying to understand what the hell is going on Any clues?
Pagerank is based on the quality of your backlinks, it can easily be assumed the domain you purchased has more backlinks than your year old site. Increase the amount of inbound links to your year old site and hopefully you'll get a lovely number during the next update. P.S. Worry about search results positioning, not Pagerank; just my 2 cents.
I have experienced the exact same thing - new domain, online for 6 weeks - PR1. The site has only 4 links. All from a blog (subdomain) that has PR 0. The blog itself is about 4 months old but still at PR0 even though it has numerous incoming links from a DMOZ-listed, PR 4 site. I'm not obsessive about Pagerank but I find the situation puzzling.
