Is it legal to put news in your site and press releases from other sites lets say cnn? Example: You see a news in cnn and using your own words you give the same news in your site. Press release? Putting a press release in your site. I have a sports related website and I would like to put news in my site about sports and I thought about just going to espn and using my own words put the same news in my site. Please advise!
This is often done with no legal action taken, but it's not right. You should always site the source.
When we publish news from the other sites we ask them about it. Some sites allow to publish just small snippets, some don't allow anything - just links. News is a copyrighted product, so you cannot publish it on your site without permission from the copyright owner.
