I'm not sure if this is common or not. I just thought I would ask if anyone has experience with this type of situation. There is a Clickbank product I'm interested in marketing. It has a gravity of about 130. The product sells for $69 and has a 75% commission. 65% referral rate. Doing some research I found that this same product, using the same name and same artwork is being sold by a single user on eBay. This person is selling the product on eBay for $29.95. The eBayer has sold over 160 in the last few months. I was puzzled and a little concerned so I sent an email. I got a reply back saying that the person on eBay is selling illegal copies. He went on to say that eBay stated there was nothing they can do about it. He finished his email with the assurance that he will continue to work on the eBay problem. It still seems fishy to me. The product is being sold at clearance prices, yet more than what the publisher would normally make on an affiliate sale. Gravity is still good though. Should I stay or I should I run...?
If the product is being sold on eBay, it shouldn't stop you promoting it as a Clickbank affiliate, right? You still get your commission, the publisher gets the sale and everyone's happy. So what's the problem? Although, the guy who's selling it via eBay should be worried about his eBay account...
Yep, just a guy that bought the ebook ro grabbed it off a download site and re-packaged the thing on eBay. Not much you can do..find another product
They do allow you to sell eBooks but it has to be listed as a classified ad. Also, you must own the copyright or have authorization to sell it. This is what found questionable. it's obvious to me that the guy is selling his own product, undercutting his own affiliates for a few bucks. But hey, that's his business. Thanks everyone for your comments. I appreciate them. -Brad
