Heres a quick section: my math website, mathcalcs.com has a forum at http://www.mathcalcs.com/forum/. I was wondering if I should publicize them seperately, or if I just publicize my main site, forum members will come naturally?
What you can do is display the forum posts on the main section of the site, to funnel traffic to the forum. You really need to add more content to the homepage btw.
Well you could add the latest forum posts to start with, but I would look to add some more static content.
Thanks, I like the idea for adding forum posts, sort of like a rss feed. However, I am confused about static content: most of my content are "math tools" or calculators, which can be found on the left side navigation bar. I thought the home page should be more simple, or am I mistaken?
I would get a feed of new forum posts or topics down the left sidebar, under the current list of tools. So like: Statistics Trig ... Other tools Recent Forum Posts: How do I calculate this? What is pi? Etc. I would try and advertise them together, but then additionally the forum. So you can make some adverts say like "Maths help site & forum" then some other adverts just for the forum.
