I'm seeing this too. Alternate ads seem to be showing on one of my sites about half the time today. Not sure what's going on, the site has never had this problem before, and the topic should have a lot of inventory.

Just a quick update, I checked my site using the AdSense preview tool, and it didn't seem to be having any problem finding ads.

It seems suspicious that there was an update at Google yesterday, and today they are having issues on AdSense...

Lots of alternate ads or psa's here as well. I hadn't even setup alternate ads on a few sites as I always have ads, now all I have are psa's.

It looks like things are fixed on my site now. Refreshed about 20 times and got all ads. I emailed AdSense support about an hour ago about the problem, not sure if that was a coincidence or not.

I've gotten public service ads a couple times today... That seemed kinda of weird too, but I did a couple of refreshes and it started showing the ads again... weird.

    PSA's aren't my problem.
As I don't trawl my sites too much I probably do get a few PSA's and frankly I don't mind the odd few in times of need.
Mystery Japanese ads or completely irrelevant ads like Christian targeted ads on my Islamic site are more of a problem.
My ad filter is getting out of hand. ;)

The same happened to me a while back, but since then everything is back to normal.
Maybe there was something "wrong" on my page or Google simply didn’t have anything to serve on it.

My gut feeling is that smaller/newer sites get PSA more often than the big hitters.
