I'm NOT sure this is the best category for my question. But I don't see a PR forum here. So this will have to do. I have a free giveaway report on my website. It requires just a basic signup - name & email address. Today I'm checking on new entries and I see a reporter from a business magazine downloaded the report. I Google her, and she's legit, and kind of a big deal. She hasn't emailed me or anything like that, but she DID opt in to receive future announcements. Should I email her personally and ask her if I can help her? Or should I just wait it out and keep her on the list? I have experience with writing press releases (I am a writer, first nature) but I really have never had to speak to the media much. I don't want to annoy her or scare her away, but I would really like to shove a review copy of my main product in her inbox... What would YOU do?
I'm have experience in the media, and I think you should email her inocently and ask if she is interested in knowing more, mention something about the report or about your career that makes it very interesting so it could be a possible story. Media members like it when they get a good story fed to them and don't have to work as hard.
